THINGS TO DO IN SWALEDALE IN NOVEMBER

Welcome to another listing of events and attractions in and around Swaledale for November. What a great time of the year this is! Hopefully we will be getting some more sunshine to go along with the cooler, crisp weather.

Well first up must be the family fireworks that are taking place in Reeth green at 7pm on the 5th of November. You may well have seen the bonfire being built over the last few days so get yourself down to the green for the fire, fireworks and of course a barbeque will run throughout the evening.

The fire will be lit at 6.30pm and fireworks show starts at 7pm. and admission is free with a collection taken to help support future events, so dig deep to support the Reeth Memorial Hall!

Next up on the Sunday the 10th of November is Remembrance Day where there is a short service at 11am by the war memorial on the village green. Gather from 10.50am.

There is also a parade featuring the Reeth Brass Band. This is taking place between Reeth and Grinton at 2pm for a service at Saint Andrews church in Grinton at 2.30pm. A bus will ferry people back for tea at the memorial hall at 4pm.

Make sure you get yourselves off to the Two Dales Bakery in Reeth on the 17th of November where you can check out their Christmas Tasting Event from 11am to 2pm. It’s a chance to see and taste some of the festive goodies they will be selling and you can place orders for Christmas!

Two Dales Bakery Christmas Event

On November 17th from 11am to 2pm there is an opportunity to taste and order your Christmas goodies.

Well worth popping into Reeth for and grabbing a tea or coffee in the cafe while you are there.

Something which I really want to go and see are the Red squirrels at the Snaizeholme Red Squirrel Trail which is near Hawes. I think would be a great time of the year to spot them as the leaves drop, change colour and they are scrabbling around foraging for winter food. At least that’s how I imagine it would be!

There is a 2.5 mile circular trail, about 40 minutes to the red squirrel viewing point, and same back to your start point again. You can also book the Little White Bus to ferry you to the trail start.

Finally, if all of this hasn’t been too much along with regular walks and of course Christmas shopping, more on that later in November, but as a starter there is late night shopping until 9pm every Friday in November taking place in Hawes.

At the Dales Countryside Museum and throughout Hawes there will be a variety of local independent shops, cafes open to offer a fabulous pre Christmas shopping experience along with food , mulled wine, music, craft workshops and children’s activities with free entry to the museum.

So there you have a few ideas for early November of events in and around Swaledale. Have fun, and happy shopping!
